Mid North Coast

Mid North Coast

Myall Lakes and Hawks Nest — dense, easy beach-and-lake caravan touring a few hours north of Sydney.

1 caravan park

The Mid North Coast around Myall Lakes and Hawks Nest is classic NSW coastal touring — holiday parks, beach camps and lakeside stops packed close together, with the added bonus of Myall Lakes' calm-water paddling and fishing alongside the surf beaches. It's an easy region for first-time caravanners or anyone wanting a relaxed week without any 4WD or remote-travel planning.

Reflections Hawks Nest (on Jimmys Beach) is a good example of the region's style — beachfront, family-friendly, and close enough to Newcastle and the Hunter for a supply run if needed. The whole stretch runs on sealed roads with servos and supermarkets never far off.

Summer and school holidays are the busy season on this stretch — book well ahead for the Christmas–January peak; shoulder seasons are quieter and still mild for beach and lake activities.

What makes Myall Lakes different from other NSW coastal spots?
The calm-water lakes system alongside the surf beaches — good for paddling, fishing and kids, not just beach time.
