Caravanning, off-road touring and remote travel carry inherent risk. The track distances, rig ratings, caravan-suitability grading, permit rules, seasons, fuel and water gaps, and booking information on this site are the best information we have when we publish, but conditions change — roads wash out, gorges flood, and shires close tracks with little notice — and official sources (Main Roads, NPWS and equivalent state agencies, local shires and police) are authoritative.
